We all know that the rapid increase in population is the primary root cause of many problems. We are facing problems like unemployment, poverty, crime, destruction of nature, depletion of natural resources (water, oil, gas etc.) and increase in pollution (Sound, light, air and water etc.)
Over population is a crisis. The reasons and solutions for over population are widely mentioned but spiritual philosophers seem to have their own list of reasons and solutions. I would like to mention one reason and a solution which really caught my attention.
In previous yugas, souls of the dead attained salvation either due to high rate of virtue gained while living, or due to their complete peace of mind which was free from desires. Therefore, the departed souls found peace and reached the abode of almighty, thereby getting relieved from the compulsion of being born again. That was the reason behind limited population. Moreover, the pure souls which attained salvation also become eligible to help the universe run in a stable manner without constant ups and downs like irregular climate change and premature rains etc. They also make peace out with the universal odds to stabilize negative situations time to time.
But Since a century, there has been much advancement, luxuries and avocations for the humans. Human minds were completely diverted from the true essence of life to various unimportant matters that caused a lot of unseen mental disturbance. Desire craving minds lead to sinful actions. Departed souls from such people cannot attain salvation. They are meant to be born again and again. This is the reason; the population is now growing rapidly.
Hence, the solution is, to know the true essence of life, leading it by gaining virtues, keeping our minds free from miserable desires, meditating and surrendering completely to the Divine Almighty (God), being aware of sinful actions and avoiding them etc.
So, this is the high time that we all help ourselves and the universe by making our souls pure.
